Joao was born in Porto, but has lived but in Douro Valley since he was six. He has a background in history and tourism, and became passionate about wine in 2011, when he started learning vinification methods and viticulture techniques. He completed the Sommelier Wine Course in 2017, and then worked for several wine companies and hotels, where he had the chance to learn all the secrets about wine. Today, Joao works full-time as a tour guide and offers the most engaging and informative Douro Valley tours!
