Born and raised in Munich, Rainer lives in the center of the city. For the last 30 years, he has been working as a freelance journalist for several magazines and papers, writing about food, travel, and culture. Since 2000, he has worked as an editor for Munich's leading city magazine „In-München“ with a focus on food, wine, restaurants, city life, culture, music, books, and films.
